Scheduled SRC (VHF) Assessment slots are available for those who have already taken the VHF Radio (SRC) Course (perhaps online) and need to take the exam to obtain the qualification.

SRC (VHF) Scheduled Exams are booked in 3-hour slots, and each slot has a maximum of 3 candidates.

Free tea & coffee are available throughout your time at the assessment centre.

Itinerary:

  • Check-In
    When you arrive, you will be checked in. All the necessary paperwork will be checked in preparation for the assessment.
  • Familiarisation
    You will have access to the radios used for your examination, giving you plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the equipment.
  • Practical Assessment
    The assessor will ask you to demonstrate some radio scenarios on the training radio.
  • Written Exam
    There’s a short (30-minute) multiple-choice exam paper to complete, which is marked as soon as you finish.
  • Administration
    All necessary paperwork is completed, ready for processing.

License Processing

Once you have successfully completed the examination, the paperwork is sent to the RYA for processing. You will not get your SRC certificate on the day of the exam, it can take up to 21 days to process your license.

RYA Examination Fee

Before attending the assessment, you must pay the RYA SRC Examination Fee. This covers the cost of processing the licesnse by the RYA. The examination cost is £76 and is payable directly to the RYA.

Fast-track License Processing

If you need your license urgently, a fast-track processing service is available for an additional fee, payable to the RYA. They aim to turn the certificate around in 4 working days (excluding delivery time).
